This intensive two-day course is built by roofers, for roofers.

You won’t spend two days watching somebody click through slides. You’ll work with the Lava 20 system yourself—preparing substrates, selecting primers, mixing materials, controlling coverage, installing reinforcement and completing the details that make or break a flat roof.

The course combines essential technical knowledge with hands-on application, advanced detailing and a final practical assessment. Successfully complete the programme and you can become a Roofing Outlaw Training Labs Accredited Lava 20 Installer.

Day One

Understand the system

Day One gives you the knowledge and preparation skills needed before any Lava 20 container is opened.

You’ll cover:

  • ✓The Lava 20 system, its components and correct specifications
  • ✓PPE, COSHH and safe product handling
  • ✓Roof surveys and identifying whether a roof is suitable
  • ✓Substrate inspection, preparation and acceptance
  • ✓Selecting and correctly applying primers
  • ✓Mixing Lava 20 and controlling catalyst quantities
  • ✓Reinforcement and matting installation
  • ✓Coverage calculations and material control
  • ✓Weather, moisture and application conditions
  • ✓Hands-on Lava 20 system installation
Day Two

Apply it and prove it

Day Two develops your practical workmanship and ability to complete real-world roofing details correctly.

You’ll cover:

  • ✓Advanced practical Lava 20 installation
  • ✓Complex roof details and interfaces
  • ✓Internal and external corners
  • ✓Upstands and changes of plane
  • ✓Pipe and HVAC penetrations
  • ✓Roof outlets, drains and terminations
  • ✓Roof edges and metal drip details
  • ✓Parapets and expansion joints
  • ✓Balcony, deck and anti-slip applications
  • ✓Warm-roof, cold-roof and green-roof considerations
  • ✓Failure diagnosis and repair principles
  • ✓Quality-control checks and installation records

  • ✓Final practical assessment and sign-off

Access to the Lava 20 guarantee pathway

Successful completion makes accredited installers eligible to register qualifying installations through the Lava 20 25-year guarantee pathway.

This gives you the opportunity to offer stronger customer protection while demonstrating that your work has been completed by a trained installer.

Guarantee access is not automatic for every roof. Each installation must use the approved Lava 20 system, follow the current specification and meet the published registration, installation and documentation requirements.
