Description

Purpose-made methyl ethyl ketone peroxide for curing the RORR Pure GRP system — consistent room-temperature performance with resins and gelcoats. Clear, reliable, and built for day-in, day-out roofing work.

Why roofers pick it

  • Proven, consistent cure with unsaturated polyester resins at ambient temps (general-purpose “workhorse” grade).
  • Predictable handling: colourless, low-viscosity liquid for easy dosing and thorough mixing. Viscosity 9–15 mPa·s @ 20 °C; density 1.12–1.15 g/cm³.
  • Stable formulation: Active oxygen 9.0–9.2% for reliable reactivity; flash point > 80 °C.
  • Real-world data: at 25 °C with an orthophthalic resin (1.5% initiator, 0.5% cobalt), typical gel ~25 min, time-to-peak ~61 min, peak ~88 °C — a practical window for roofing laminates. (Always follow your resin/topcoat chart.)

Sizes

  • 1 L — ideal for small jobs and detailing
  • 5 L — cost-effective for daily site use

How to use (at a glance)

  1. Stir resin/topcoat, then add RORR Catalyst and mix thoroughly.
  2. Dose to the conditions per your RORR resin/topcoat instructions; run a small test if unsure.
  3. Never add catalyst directly to accelerators or contaminated containers; only add to resin/topcoat.

Compatibility: For unsaturated polyester resins and gelcoats (the RORR system). Evaluate in your exact system before full-scale use.

Safety & handling (read before use)

  • Danger — Organic Peroxide, Type D. H242: heating may cause a fire. H302/H332: harmful if swallowed or inhaled. H314/H318: causes severe skin burns/serious eye damage. Wear gloves, eye/face protection; ensure ventilation.
  • Keep away from heat/sparks/open flames. Store in original packaging, cool and ventilated; max 30 °C. Do not return product to container.
  • SADT: approx. 60–65 °C depending on package size — keep cool and avoid contamination (acids/bases, heavy-metal salts, accelerators).
  • Shelf life: up to 6 months at 30 °C from delivery when stored as recommended.

Transport (for your paperwork)

UN 3105 — Organic Peroxide Type D, Liquid (MEKP), Class 5.2. Follow label/segregation rules; keep away from heat.

Quick specs (for the no-nonsense crowd)

FAQs

Is this the right catalyst for RORR Roofing Resin and Grey Topcoat?
Yes — it’s the specified curing agent for the RORR Pure GRP system (unsaturated polyester).

How much do I add?
Follow the dose tables on your RORR resin/topcoat TDS for temperature and batch size. Always mix thoroughly and test a small area first.

Any storage red flags?
Keep it cool (< 30 °C), ventilated, and in the original container. Avoid contamination and keep away from accelerators and incompatible materials.
