Description
A leaking roof does not always wait for a dry day.
When water is running across the deck, backing up around a detail or making it impossible to prepare the area properly, Powda gives you a practical way to get control of it.
Powda is a white, odourless super-absorbent polymer that rapidly absorbs water, helping to create a more manageable working area while you carry out the proper roof repair. The supplied technical sheet states an absorption capacity of approximately 300–500 times its own weight in water.
Use it to dam flowing water, contain pooling water and buy yourself the working conditions needed to repair the roof properly. It is particularly useful for emergency call-outs, temporary water control during live leaks and jobs where waiting for perfect weather is not an option.
Powda is not a substitute for a permanent waterproofing repair. It is the product that helps you get the water under control so the correct repair system can be applied.
Dam the water, stop the leak and do your repair.
How to Install
Step 1 - Make the Area Safe
Assess the roof, working area and access before use, as wet or activated Powda can create a slip hazard.
Step 2 - Identify the Water Route
Locate where water is flowing, ponding or entering the repair area before applying the powder.
Step 3 – Apply Powda to the Water Path
Apply dry Powda gradually into the path of the water or around the pooling area to begin forming a temporary water-control barrier.
Step 4 – Build the Dam
Continue applying small amounts until the water is absorbed and the flow is controlled enough to create a workable repair area.
Step 5 – Clear the Repair Zone
Move or contain excess activated material where necessary so the repair location can be prepared correctly.
Step 6 – Carry Out the Repair
Once water is controlled, prepare the substrate and apply the correct repair system for the roof covering and defect.
Step 7 – Remove Residue Safely
Do not leave activated Powda on walkways or access routes, as the material becomes slippery when wet.
Step 8 – Store the Remaining Product Dry
Reseal the product and store it in a cool, dry, well-ventilated location away from moisture.
Key Advantages
- Helps control flowing or pooling water during emergency repairs
- Absorbs approximately 300–500 times its own weight in water
- Creates a more workable area on live leak
- Useful where water is stopping proper repair preparation
- Gives roofers more control when the weather is against them
