Lava 20 Fast Primer is a transparent, rigid, deep-penetrating, quick-drying, and fast-curing polyurethane primer.

It is primarily used as a primer for polyurethane waterproofing coatings and joint sealants on absorbent surfaces such as concrete, mortar, plaster, and wood.

Consumption

• Coverage: Approximately 0.200 kg/m² per layer

This coverage estimate is based on practical application by roller on a smooth surface under optimal conditions. Consumption may vary depending on surface porosity, temperature, humidity, application method, and finish required.

Application

Surface Preparation

Proper surface preparation is crucial for the best results and durability. The surface should be clean, dry, and free from contaminants that could affect the adhesion of the membrane. Ensure the maximum moisture content does not exceed 5%.

• Substrate compressive strength should be at least 25 MPa.
• Cohesive bond strength should be at least 1.5 MPa.
• New concrete structures should be allowed to dry for at least 28 days.
• Remove old, loose coatings, dirt, fats, oils, organic substances, and dust using a grinding machine. Smooth any surface irregularities, and thoroughly remove any loose debris and grinding dust.

Warnings:

• Do not wash the surface with water.
• Avoid using metal-ball blasting machines for grinding, as they can damage the concrete surface and reduce its stability.

Priming

Apply Lava 20 Fast Primer using a roller or brush until the surface is fully covered. For efficiency, you can use an airless spray. While the primer is still slightly tacky, apply the polyurethane coating or joint sealant.

Recommendation: For very brittle surfaces, such as lightweight concrete or highly porous cement screed, apply two layers of Lava 20 Fast Primer.
