Rowan™ is our hybrid polymer adhesive/sealant built for roofing detail work: bonding GRP trims & corners, perimeter terminations, metals, timber, OSB, masonry and more. It delivers a durable, flexible bond with a quick initial fix, works indoors and out, is free from isocyanates and solvents — and IT WORKS IN THE WET.

What it is

Rowan uses a silane-terminated polymer with mineral fillers — the modern “MS polymer” backbone trusted across construction for clean bonding and elastic performance. Low VOC, non-hazardous under GB-CLP, and engineered for use on common construction materials.

Safety & handling (summary)

• Contains N-(3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl)ethylenediamine and trimethoxyvinylsilane — may cause an allergic reaction (EUH208).

• During cure, trace methanol may be released — ventilate, avoid inhalation, and follow standard PPE hygiene (gloves/eye protection).

• Not hazardous for transport; non-flammable in use; flash point >151 °C.

1) What is Rowan?

A silane-terminated hybrid polymer (MS) adhesive/sealant for construction, with strong initial grab and elastic bond, suitable for interior/exterior use.

2) What can I use it for on roofs?

Bedding and joining GRP trims & preformed corners, perimeter/abutment terminations, metal to OSB/ply, GRP to masonry, fascias/soffits, and general detail sealing. (Always test unusual plastics/coatings first.)

3) Does it work beyond GRP?

Yes. Compatible with metals, timber, OSB, masonry, and many plastics.

4) Is Rowan a structural adhesive?

No — it’s a construction adhesive/sealant with durable flexibility, not a substitute for structural fixings.

5) Is it solvent-free and isocyanate-free?

Yes to both. No isocyanates, no solvents. Low odour.

6) What about VOCs?

Very low, ~0.01% VOC (≈0.2 g/L).

7) Is it hazardous to handle?

Not classified under GB-CLP, but contains trace sensitisers that may cause an allergic reaction (EUH208). SDS available on request (EUH210).

8) Any fumes while curing?

Trace methanol can be released. Work with good ventilation.

9) What PPE is recommended?

Standard site PPE. Use nitrile or butyl gloves; wear safety glasses when applying.

10) Can I use silicone as an alternative?

No — silicone is not suitable for GRP bonding. Use Rowan (hybrid) or PU adhesive.

11) Does Rowan stick if surfaces are damp?

Yes. Best on clean, dry substrates, but Rowan works in the wet.

12) Interior or exterior? UV resistant?

Both. Designed for long-term exposure in real-world building conditions.

Keep sealed, cool and dry, 5–25 °C; avoid heat/sunlight.

Yes, but test first for paint compatibility and curing.

18) What bead/joint widths should I run?

Apply a continuous bead sized to fully bed the component. For trims/caps: seat, pin/screw if needed, then reinforce with bandage or matting before finishing.

19) Any substrates to avoid?

Avoid bituminous/softened or heavily plasticised surfaces without testing. Clean off release agents and dust.
